12U Red Player Meets Nic Dowd on Youth Hockey Day
The NoVA Ice Dogs club was one of a handful of local teams invited to the pre-game activities on Youth Hockey Day. Our own Donovan Heaton (12U Red) got to walk with Capitals forward Nic Dowd while they both sported Ice Dogs jerseys!
During the game, Nic went on to score the first goal, rack up an assist, and come out as second star of the game in the 4-3 win over the LA Kings. We can’t help but wonder if some good Ice Dog vibes had something to do with it!
Here’s more from Donovan about his experience:
“Meeting Nic Dowd and talking with him before the game was awesome. He was really nice and talking with him was really easy even though I was super nervous. All the kids got to meet the players as they entered the Arena and then each of us got to walk down the hallway to the locker room with a player and I was excited I got to walk with Nic because he is one of my favorite players. I appreciate the Capitals making this event possible and was honored to represent the Ice Dogs. Only 15 or 16 clubs from the whole area were selected so it’s really cool that the Ice Dogs were one of them. Go Ice Dogs and Let’s Go Caps!”
