Our travel hockey program provides a fun, competitive atmosphere that balances player development and team competitiveness with reasonable travel, time, and cost commitments.

TRAVEL TRYOUTS

Tryouts for our 2026-27 CBHL travel teams will take place on the following dates:

• March 20-22: 10U-12U (Coed and Girls)
• April 18-19: Coed 14U, 16U, 18U & Girls 14/16U-19U

SEASON OVERVIEW

The Ice Dogs play out of the Mount Vernon Ice Arena in Alexandria, VA, while also utilizing partner rinks including Tucker Road Ice Rink. Our season runs mid-August to early March, and includes:

• 40-50 practices (typically 2 practices/week)
• Additional skills development opportunities
• 20-25+ games: combination of league games, non-league games, and tournaments. Following USA Hockey's American Development Model, older teams typically play more games than younger teams.
• Approximately 2-3 tournaments/trips, with a mix of local and overnight experiences

LEAGUE

The Ice Dogs’ coed travel teams compete in the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL). We do not intend to declare in additional leagues.

COSTS

Travel hockey costs for the 2025-26 season:

• Coed 12U-18U: $2800
• Coed 10U: $2500

Costs for the 2026-27 season to be announced.
