NoVA Ice Dogs Girls’ Teams have several options for leagues and level of play. Teams compete in the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) and also play independent schedules.

TRYOUTS AND LEVEL OF PLAY

Tryouts are held each spring for placement on teams. The level of play for each team is determined after tryouts and that determines league, schedule, and national-bound declarations. The season runs from August to March.

Tryouts for our 2026-27 girls travel teams will take place on the following dates:

• March 20-22: Girls 10U-12U
• April 18-19: Girls 14/16U-19U

PRACTICES AND GAMES

Girls’ teams practice twice a week and play an average of 2 weekend games. They typically also play in 3-4 tournaments throughout the season. Most games are played at rinks throughout Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland with some teams traveling routinely to Pennsylvania and New Jersey; tournaments may be farther away.

COSTS

Travel hockey costs for the 2025-26 season:

• Girls 16-19U: $2800
• Girls 10U-14U: $2500

Costs for the 2026-27 season to be announced.

DC BLOSSOMS

We also offer a composite 8U girls' hockey team called the DC Blossoms, which is a supplemental opportunity and does not require girls to change home clubs or teams. More information available here.
